At the International Biosecurity Symposium 2025, the Biosecurity Office launched a new tool: the Dual-use Infographic. This tool is designed to support researchers and Biorisk Management Advisors (BMAs) in identifying and discussing dual-use risks.

The infographic provides a clear overview of the different phases within the dual-use risk assessment cycle. Using the step-by-step plan in the infographic, researchers and BMAs can map out potential dual-use risks and are guided through the subsequent process.

On the back of the infographic, there is a set of questions that BMAs can use during conversations with researchers. These questions offer guidance for exploring specific risks in more detail. It is not necessary to discuss all the questions; the list is intended as a tool to help focus the conversation on the most relevant aspects of the research.
